I have finished the book I think it is a great book. It has alot of details on how what happend, ect... There was a boys name Helmuth he was a Nazi youth that was way smarter than alot of people. He was eight when Hitler become furer/President. Hitlers view was kill and destroy jews because they are messing up the "Fatherland." Helmuth did not like the idea very much though he was very counfused on witch side he was on he did not like hitler youth at first but he got to love it. One of his brothers is a sumbmerine and ship builder/desighner. One day one of his brothers came home with a shortwave radio breaking the un-gereman stuff is destroyed law. Helmuth really wanted to listen to it so he took and broke open the closet door lock and listened to it on the bbc (A station for any german to listen to if they are breaking the no shortwave radio law). So he ended up breaking the no propaganda law and made papers that said something like this "Is hitler lieing or not. We must protect the people we love. Stand against the nazi party." He ended up get torchered at a prison to tell the men who his friends names were. So he ended up telling them. Him and his friends ended up at a trail in the most hated court in Germany. They got there and Helmuth when the judge asked do you think our Furer is lieing do you think we are going to lose this great war? Helmuth blurted out YES, You are lieing! so they sentenced him to death with no civil rights. So the exicutioner works on tuesday. October,27 he was exicuted. He is a famuse person in history and some of his friend are still alive. I think you people out there should read this book it would teach everyone a good lesson.This book is very interesting, and its moral is stand up for what you think is right. The aha in this story is never give up on stuff you think is right and someday it may work.
I'm reading this book and it's good i'm like on page 71 and it's going pretty good. I'm at the part where Helmuth joins the Hitler youth. Helmuth is currently in jail.
This book is good so far. I like how it talks about Helmuth's childhood in flashbacks and that he is currently in jail. I'm on the part where he joins Hitler's Youth. Helmuth was a young adult who wants what he believes is right.
As off reading the back of the book i found out that his friend are the ones who made the book. He belives in what is right and his death caused the germans to revolt.
I'm at the part where Hitler took away more German's freedoms by not allowing them to listen to foreign radio stations. They can only listen to German news on RRG. when Gerhard locked up his special radio and went back to training Helmuth broke the lock and listened to foreign radio stations. If he gets caught he can put his whole family and himself in danger.
The youth of a young child living in the Hitler age. I know people have been saying the same thing over and over again. Such as "This book is so good" or "It's good so far." Of course it will be a great book. A child named Helmuth, was fascinated with the Furher Hitler. But as his mom marries a Rotten Furher, he begins to realize how badly the Jews are being treated. Everyday his Father-In-Law, would constantly put down the Jews over some stupid incident. More and more comments make Helmuth hate his father and the Furher all the more. Helmuth was unable to contain this anger anymore and decides to explain all the lies Hitler spreads in posters.
